Description
As the volume of traffic increases, so do the efforts for safety measures during refurbishment. In combination with special system parameters (e.g. short tunnels), this can lead to very complex tasks, particularly for tunnel ventilation systems. Using a 420m long tunnel, as an example, this paper will show how such problems can be approached and how they can be solved. For this purpose, three different ventilation concepts were developed, using 3D-CFD simulations, to assess their effectiveness. The necessary structural measures were also investigated.
