Kim Smedegaard Andersen is Deputy Technical Director of Femern AS and CEO for Sund & Bælt Partner A/S since 2013. From 2020 he has been Chairman of the Danish Tunnelling and Underground Society, and a member of ITA. He is also an advisor to OECD on Risk Allocation within infrastructure projects
Education and professional experience:
1992 graduated as a maritime civil engineer and joint the Øresund Fixed Link, as Design Manager, involved with the immersed tunnel. Consulted on Opera Project in Copenhagen and as contractor for an advanced multimedia house.
In 2009 started the design of the immersed tunnel across the Fehmarnbelt. 2011 appointed as Contract Director, Immersed Tunnel until 20021 and Deputy Technical Director still today with the responsibility as tunnel manager and head og the Engineering Office department. The department works with Project information management, Quality, Rescue and Emergency, Commissioning, future use of the tunnel factory and the Engineering experts across the value chain in Sund & Bælt.

Prof. Arnold Dix will be presenting a keynote speech:
“Sustainability in Underground Construction – Enabling for the Future”.
Dr. Wälchli is the head of Planning and Construction and member of the executive board of Nagra – National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste in Switzerland.
Professor Dix is founder of Alarp and president of ITA. He is a specialist legal/technical adviser in all aspects of tunnel risk. Investigating real disasters as the governments investigator, formulating project contracts, resolving disputes and adjudicating conflicts.

2007 – 2019: Pöyry Switzerland (today known as AFRY Switzerland), several roles (Head of Ventilation & Safety, Business Development Manager, Head of Technology & Safety); Projects in ventilation, fire life safety and operational safety of underground structures (road and rail tunnels, metro systems, caverns, etc.). Manager of the Pöyry Competence Center for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Project references include Gotthard Base Tunnel (Switzerland), Metro Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Follo Line Tunnel (Norway), Guanjiao Tunnel (China).
Since 2019: Nagra (Switzerland), Division Head Planning & Construction, Member of the Executive Board. Responsible for all engineering competences, environmental studies and site investigations. Conceptual engineering design of underground and surface facilities for the project milestone “General Licence Application” (2024). Responsible line manager for the Nagra cost and risk management.
