£65.00

Description

The Fréjus road Tunnel between Italy and France is one of the longest (12.87 km long) in Europe and has a strategic importance. In 2011, the clients SFTRF (France) and SITAF (Italy) appointed setec to manage the project for the replacement of the ventilation equipment. Managing obsolescence, increasing operational performance and adapting to future traffic conditions (change to one-way traffic following the construction of a new circular tunnel) were the three main challenges of this operation.
In this article, we present the history of the Fréjus ventilation system since its creation, the new system design and the feedback after the renovation work was completed.
